I had a bad experience at the ETC. The program was very poorly managed and mostly consisted of performing various chores around the farm. The goal of these chores seemed to be making the farm more marketable to visitors. If you are looking for a permaculture experience, look no further than Spiral Ridge Permaculture, located just down the road from The Farm community. Coming from someone who has tried both, this is my only advice, don't go to The Farm. I met some very cool and fun people on the farm, but most of these people were visitors, apprentices, or interns, and many of them also felt that The ETC was taking advantage of them. This may partially explain why many members of The Farm community refuse to even visit the ETC. At the end of the day, your stay on the ETC is meant to make money for the people struggling to live off the meager income it produces. Again, if you want to learn about permaculture, GO TO SPIRAL RIDGE!!!
